Description
Senator John McCain will receive the 2016 Harry S. Truman Good Neighbor Award as part of the Truman Foundation’s 64th annual luncheon. Previous honorees include Presidents Bill Clinton, Gerald R. Ford, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, and news anchor Walter Cronkite.
Joseph F. Egan Colonel, U.S. MarineCorps Reserve (RET.) will receive the 2016 Philip Pistilli Silver Veteran’s Medal.
Both awards have been given annually since 1973 on the anniversary of President Truman’s birth.
In addition, the Foundation will present scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students studying in the fields of international relations and public service and will host as their guests approximately 50 international students studying at local universities, recognizing President Truman’s keen interest in education as a means to promote better relations among all nations.
The public is invited to attend the annual birthday luncheon honoring President Truman.
